Pounding surf crashed ashore today as swells from the north pacific took center stage at the beach. Fishing was tough and nearly impossible today as the long shore current was screaming and fish were treading for their lives!

The swell along the south coast will begin to diminish by Saturday afternoon and be more manageable on Sunday and into the middle of next week. We still have some great tides in the morning and evening for the next week. This time of year I like to fish an outgoing high tide because this seems to be when perch are most active.

The full moon has hurt the surf fishing too because fish can feed all day. But, as the moon wanes in the next few days fishing will improve. It looks like we may be getting into some rainy weather late next week. The surf fishing before the low comes ashore is usually very good-so now's the time to get out there and hit the beach!

For a great look at the projected swell, wind, tides and moon from the home page click on "Swell Watch." For a look at the real-time swells and other live beach conditions click on: "Live Cams" www.fishthesurf.com

I'll be out there Sunday and will write back with what I hope is a great report!

see you at the beach
